Cerwin Vega`s..how do I get the most out of my 500 watt dual 15`s?
I have a Marantz pm7000 amp the speakers can handle all it has,I can keep turning it up and up and they sound great with no distortion..lots of huge sound,but than my amp shuts down...what do I need to keep it from doing this???...no stupid answers for points please.
You can't avoid it going into safe mode, its over heating cus its been driven harder than its designed to be. You could get a fan blowing on it, but it will only fail completely in time. You need to upgrade your amp. (dont be tempted to get PA amps, they will just sound LOUD and you will lose all the warmth of sound you are getting now)
How about getting some mono-blocks, I imagine your system sounds sweet as it is, my kinda set-up

Monoblocs monopolise praise
As you'd expect from the output figure, it'll go loud with just about any speaker you care to mention. It'll pummel your senses while delivering a sound that balances refinement, punch and stability to great effect. Detail resolution is breathtaking, as is the composure at high volume levels.
It ashame (and a bit unusual) that they can't be bridged. But they would sound wicked with your speakers, of course you'd need the pre-amp. And the mono's are 'very exspensive' but, way to go huh :p
NAD do some nice power/pre-amp combo's, and you can bridge them to keep doubling the wattage. The prices are a bit more down to earth also
