Is this laptop suitable?
I mostly plan to use the laptop for VoIP (magicjack) and use the laptop to connect to my widescreen TV to play movies as well as stream off Hulu for example.

It should do all of that as long as your TV has the VGA connection and a sound connection or you could just play it off the speakers on the laptop, although I would recommend a desktop if you plan on keeping it in one spot since desktops are usually cheaper then laptops. Also if you have cable/ dsl or better, it would be better for streaming videos
