now. let's look at the data you were given...
you were told Nitrogen.. N2... molar mass = 28.0 g/mole
and you were given "time".. not "rate"...this is a trick to make you think about the problem.
rate = d / t.. assuming the distance traveled was the same for both gases.. let's call it "d".. then...
(d / 1t) / (d / 1.57t) = √( mw2 / (28.0 g/mole))
mw 2 = (1.57 / 1)² x 28.0 g/mole
mw 2 = 69.0 g/mole
