My Dual Core performs like a single core?
My AMD Dual Core Processor is performing about 9% better than my previous single core processor. I came to this percentage using Performance Test V6.1
I downloaded a similar Baseline that's using my dual core processor and the CPU test are running almost exact to double my result.
I have:
Windows XP SP3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 - 4400+ - Toledo Core Socket 939
MSI RD480 NEO2 mobo
3GB DDR3200 (3x1GB Corsair)
500W PSU (Arctic Cooling)
HIS X800XL 256MB IceQII
To narrow this down a little bit, in the Task Manager it is showing 2 Boxes in the CPU Usage History Bit.
Device Manager is showing two processors
I upgraded from an AMD Athlon x64 3200+ Socket 939
I have not done a clean install of XP
I have not flashed my BIOS, But mobo is DUAL CORE READY and only a few years old.
I have downloaded and installed the AMD Dual Core Optimiser
What we thinking?
Dual core processors are only effective at running multi-threaded applications faster, or running multiple applications at similar rates as each other. Dual core is parrallel processing, not serial so 2x 2.5Ghz cores DOES NOT give you a "5Ghz" machine.
