2 stroke snow blower wont stay running?

I have a Toro CCR Powerlite 3.25hp snow blower that i got free from the neighbor. The only way that it will start is if I dump a little gas in the carb and then it will only start to burn that and die. Also, the primer bulb has a couple of tiny splits in it, I don't know if that would be the problem, and I think she had stored gas in it all summer.

You should have a bowl with a bolt in the middle of it. If you undo that bolt the bowl will come off and gas should pour out at a fast rate. You will see a float and if you push up on it the gas should stop. On the hinging part of the float there is a pin. Push that pin out a lil and pull it out the rest of the way with your hand. Lower the float and you will see a 3 or 4 sided lil pointy thing about 1/2 inch long. This is your needle. This is where the problem is. (specially if it was stored with gas in it). Use some brake cleaner or carb cleaner and spray up in that hole where the needle came out. Then spray everything down real well. While that is drying go get a new needle valve. They run about $3.00. Reinstall needle and float and bowl and you should be good to go. Once you do get it running use premium gas in it. It burns so much better and you wont have any problems with it if you do.
