Why did my CPU get hotter after applying thermal grease?
I have an AMD Athlon 64X2 and before the thermal grease temperatures were around Mid 50's to low 60's for both cores. After I cleaned the old grease and added the new one I'm getting mid 60's to high 60's.
I used something called Ultra ULT40124 Thermal Gel. The heatsink was properly placed all screws were on tight.
Are you sure that you applied the grease correctly? I have heard that applying too much of grease is not good either. It is possible that you choked the ventilation of the heat sink by applying too much of it. Take out the processor clean out the excess grease and then try reinstalling it and see if this helps.
