Have you had the biomeridian test done?

My mom had me goto this place where they made me hold a bar in my hand etc, and they tested me using a small probe touching my hand and foot, how accurate is this? This very nice lady gave me a bunch of homeopathic stuff to take too. The things she said it detected sounded kinda severe....although I've been pretty sick.

Biomeridians, bioenergetics etc is a standard alternative medicine hoax.

All that happens is that the electrical resistance of your body is measured (hence why it'll vary depending how far away/how close the probe is in contact with your skin.) Unfortunately the results from this actually mean nothing as it varies dramatically with each person, moisture content of your skin etc, certainly it's not used by any medical doctor who has any credibility.

The results of these are then 'determined' by pretending that a certain measurement equals a certain condition. They then prescribe something that will have no effect, like herbs, vitamins or homeopathy and ask you to return in a couple of weeks. When you return a further 'test' will show (surprise surprise!) that you are completely cured!

This con is a variation of the same thing that has been practised by alternative medicine proponents for many years.

Edit: Red Angel has not provided a link to 'trials', just one poorly conducted test performed over a decade ago. Despite the study saying the results were 'promising' (their own words) this hoax is not used in any hospital and is not recognised by medical doctors for use on patients.
