My Surround Sound does not have OPTICAL for TV AUDIO. Can I connect HD Comcast box to surround?
Can I do the following?
COMCAST TO TV HDMI
COMCAST TO DVD/ SURROUND SOUND UNIT using video/ red/blue audio? Or do I HAVE to go from TV to DVD/ Surround sound using Optical? I don't have optical on my player and would like to just use HD output video/audio cables.
You can run your HDMI straight into your tv. Then run the red/white audio cable straight out of the Comcast box into your receiver. Turn off the tv's sound. You will get stereo or Pro Logic (simulated) surround out of your sound system. It will sound fine. To get real surround, you will need a new receiver with optical in or HDMI in and out to your tv.
