Questions about Power Supplies and their compatibility with processors?
I got a question, If a power supply, more exactly
"CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply"
As announced in Neweggs, says Is compatible with i7 processors, Is it compatible at the same time with my i5 processor? not really? or theres no way to know if it does not say in the specifications?
i7 and i5 will run with or without Active PFC Power Supplies
As will Athlon Pentium and others.
All the motherboard and chips on it require is to have correct voltages and minimum current to operate.
It has to be reasonbly clean and stable direct current of course.
They are pushing the Active PFC because it reduces current harmonics in the PSU.It reduces them mostly on the AC side of the circuits, which turns out to save the power company money.
There is minimal improvement in current harmonics on the DC side of the PSU.
You can get good 80 Plus with Active PFC it will work with i5, etc
It is Green and will help reduce Energy Consumption.
Or you can get a good PSU without it and it will work great.
