what happens when I wire a 3phase dual voltage motor for high voltage but supply it with low voltage. Will it?
it with low voltage. Will it function but at a reduced HP ? For example 2 HP 230/460 3Phase motor, wired as a 460 motor but supplied with 230 3Phase. Will it become a 1 Hp motor?
Torque capability is reduced to approximately the square of the voltage ratio. Half voltage means about one fourth torque capability or 2 Hp reduced to 1/2 Hp.
