Do all Power Supply Box's in Desktop computers have the same amount of Voltage?
Do all Power supply box's in desktops computers give the motherboard the same amount of Power (Electricity).
My old computer's power supply box is damage so i want to put my other computer's power supply box in my old computer to see if the computer is running well. Both computers are Pentium 3 processor.
Do all desktop computer motherboard take the same amount of electricity.
But my other computer's power supply box is smaller then my old computer's one?
Do you think it will work?
Look at your old power supply, look for 12 volt, 5 volt, 3.3 volt, -12 volt and +5vsb, see what the amperages are. Your new power supply must have same amperage output or more better, than old. For example my computer came with a pathetic 250 watt power supply; 12v @ 14 amps, 5 v @ 25 amps, 3.3 v @ 18 a, -12v @ 0.8 a, and +5vsb @ 2 amps.New power supply; Corsair TX 850 W (watt) 12v @70 amps, 5 v @ 30 amps, 3.3 @ 30 amps, -12 v @ 0.8 a, and +5vsb @ 3 amps. My new power supply can meet or exceed my old power supply, and ready for future upgrades. The most important voltage for gaming is 12 v with lots of amperage(40 amps plus) and best is single rail, but when using multiple video cards more wattage multiple 12 volt rails @ 30 to 40 amps are required. ATX main boards, motherboards have universal connectors, for example your board may have 24 pin connector to power supply but power supply may only have 20 pin connector, newer power supplies have 20 plus additional 4 pin so you can have extra power to main board. Same with CPU newer power supplies will have 4/8 pin connector, more pins for more power, over clocking etc.. See owners manual... More wattage bigger power supply needs more room an extra inch or two in length, make sure you have room.
