I can surf the Web, but Yahoo Messenger tells me that i have no connection?

Everex StepNote NC series VIA Esther 1.51 GHz 448 MB of Ram 60 HDD Wireless Laptop Wireless router WRT54G Windows Xp Home 2002 SP2 Ok well I hope that is enough info if you need more let me know. Now what my problem is: I have several programs that are telling me that I have no internet connection which in fact I do beings I am able to fill this out. Some of them that are telling me this are: Yahoo messenger, MSN messenger, weather bug, Skype. Yahoo was working untill I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and now its telling me I have no connection. Skype tells me something about proxy settings, but I don't believe that is the problem. If anyone can help please do desperately in need of my Yahoo messenger. I also might mention that I have went through and changed the Proxy settings on messenger and that didn't work.

This question is being posted by several of us....we all seem to be having that problem. I have my Yahoo Messenger running right now but a relative of mine has been trying for 2 days to d/l Yahoo Messenger and she also gets the box saying check your internet connection or your not online....but yet she is emailing me back and forth, and other things....Yahoo seems to be having an big issue going on right now.
