Can you upgrade graphics with a free PCI slot even if they already have an integrated graphics chip?
My computer has the NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE on it preinstalled when I bought it. Frankly, it sucks. I'm trying to get a new graphics chip in order to make my games play better. This ntegrated graphics chip that I have says it has a free PCI slot in it. Can I just buy a new graphics card and put it in that slot? Or will it not work? If possible, how can i do it?
Also, how do two video cards work, and what are their advantages? Do two low end graphics cards work better than 1 high end one?
You don't have to use the integrated video if you don't want. You can just add a video card to your pc. You will need to open the cover to the pc and see what slots you have available. If you have an AGP slot or a PCI Express slot on the motherboard, then that would be the preferred way to go. Just buy a AGP video card or PCI Express video card (depending on which slot you have). If you don't have one of those on the motherboard then look for an empty PCI slot. If you have one, then you can purchase a PCI video card and insert it into that slot.
Point here is you need to buy the correct video card depending what slot you want to use it in. Once you put the new video card in the pc it will automatically use that card instead of the integrated video.
