How do I get training/certified to install "POS" Point of Sale" equipment ?
I have a PC/networking background and would like to get certified in POS technology to try and get into the POS field, but I find very little in the way of training for this type of work. Quickbooks has an expensive proprietary cert- ans Microsoft has a single exam (no cert)- that's all i can find other than landing a job that has training....
I've never heard of anyone even asking for a POS certificate. I've installed POS solutions with Quickbooks and SLES POS using both IBM and NCR equipment and it's never come up.
As for training, I bought a few used POS systems from some businesses that were closing and used those to play around with the software. Now is a good time to buy used equipment for self training or even to go along with any training you end up taking. Make sure what you are buying is compatible with the software you are planning to use.
