How do I enable my PCMCIA slot?
I recently purchased a SATA to PCMCIA card; I wanted to see if I could connect another hard drive to my laptop. My computer doesn't even recognize the card though! It doesn't show up on device managers. I can't install the drivers because the card isn't recognized, so the problem has to lie with my PCMCIA slot. I have a an HP Pavillion 6000 Series - dv6105us. How do I enable the pcmcica slot?
My PCMCIA slot is not on my device manager list, nor is the card I inserted in the PCMCIA slot.
Use device manager.
To acess on vista type device manager into search
To acess on Xp or later
Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.
To use it.
Double-click the specific device you want to change. If the device has resources settings that you can change, the Resources tab is visible.
Click the Resources tab, and then click to clear the Use automatic settings check box. This check box might be unavailable if you have selected a non-Plug and Play device.
In Setting based on, click the hardware configuration you want to change.
In the Resource settings box, click the resource type you want to change in the Resource type column.
Click Change Setting, and then type a new value for the resource type.
