How To Replace Fan / Heatsink?
HP Pavillion 7940 Series Need To Replace The CPU Fan but dont have idea how to? i think i see to lil gold colored clips on each side i guess thats what they are. i heard some fans or Glued? how would get that off and would u have to re glue it back? Advice Please. here is a Pic of It.

CPU Fans don't tend to be glued, I've never heard of such a thing.
The white stuff (or silver if you got it built well) compound between the fan and CPU is thermal grease. The fan may stick to the CPU because it's be heated on there but it will come off.
Go get yourself a fan, if you have a standard ATX/AT board the fan you get should have whatever brackets you need for mounting.
It is common that you will have to remove the motherboard to swap the fan but based on the instructions on the new fan, it may have pop-in bolts which will make that possible.
To remove the fan, there should be a tension clasp on the current fan, you will want to depress this and twist side to side while lifting gently (once depressed).
Clean the thermal grease residue off the CPU once the fan is removed. Apply new thermal grease (or Arctic Silver, which is the best). Make sure you have a thin layer between the CPU and fan.
Install and attach the new fan and make sure it is tight against the CPU, and that the new clasp is secure. Reattach the power and you should be good to go!
