I have a straight through 9 pin serial cable and I need a null modem one. Can I use software to change it?
Firstly I need this to attach to a till. I accidentally purchased a male>female RS232 straight-through serial cable and as a result the computer can't detect the till. Is there any emulation software which could trick my computer into thinking the cable is null modem? Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately, no.
This is strictly a hardware issue. You could always RETURN the cable to where you purchased it for an EXCHANGE and the proper cable.
But to repeat, no... there is no software you can use to "trick" the computer into thinking it has the right cable. The wrong cable just does not supply the correct connections. It is not wired the same.
