Is this some lousy RAM timings or what?
I just ran cpuz and found out that my ram timings are 5-5-5-13-21 (21 is the bank cycle time) and it's only 333mhz. Is that crappy or what? Also it says my bus speed is 166MHz and my "rated FSB" is 665Mhz. Is 166mhz referring to the rambus? Not too sure about that one... anyway what do you all think? Did Dell give me some crappy hardware?
And another thing, I got this ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 w/ 256 MB RAM, but Vista says there is only 128MB. Any ideas on that?
DDR II runs at a higher bus frequency but also has higher latency so some would argue that a lower frequency and lower latency is better .... mulitply your 166 FSB x 4 to give you your correct FSB and your graphics card will have 128MB dedicated and be able to draw another 128MB from system ram if needed giving you 256
You buy cheap machines from Dell then complain ... you get what you pay for ... you can't have it both ways
