Dell Inspiron 6000 ram upgrade,what happens if i use PC2-6400 2GB(2*1GB) module instead of PC2-5200?
my current specs-PC2-5200 512MB(2*256MB).and i want to upgrade it to 2GB.Crucial suggested me to use 2GB kit (1GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 while Dell suggested me to use PC2-6400 2GB(2*1GB). My CPU specs: CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz Model 13, Stepping 8
CPU Speed: 590 MHz
I want to know wether it'd cause any damage to my laptop if i use PC2-6400 as my processor speed is only 590MHz and PC2-6400 requires 800MHZ
I have an inspiron 6000 as well. Maximum bus speed on inspiron 6000 is 533MHz. So, buying a ram that can do equal to or better than 533MHz is fine as the processor will run even the 800MHz ram at 533MHz cause it cant support more speed. I was also looking to upgrade my inspiron and am buying the following:
