SKETCHUP performance problems in brand new DELL PRECISION M6300 laptop?
Hello. Please somebody help! I'm having sketchup 6 pro performance issues! I have a brand new laptop with pretty decent features: Dell Presicion M6300; Intel Core 2 Duo cpu T7500 @ 2.2O GHz; NVidia Quadro FX 1600M (256mb dedicated) and i'm very worried about the poor performance i'm having on a relatively simple sketchcup model. In my old desktop PC i used to handle MASSIVELY COMPLEX skp models on sketchup5 (regular pc, pentium 4, 1G RAM, normal Gforce graphic card)... I managed huge complex models with ease. Now that i got this new laptop, which is supossed to be a CAD battle machine, i have this sluggish, flashy display when rotating a ridiculously simple model, and with the shadows on, it's even worst... the background sets to black and once i even had a fatal-error-screen crash. I've already read some threads online about performance analisys of quad and duo processors, etc, but i think this issues don't seem normal or acceptable on a PC like this. PLEASE HELP

The Dell Precision range of laptops are great machines.
I sometimes use one of the older M70 versions at work and it can run demanding 3D CAD apps quite smoothly.
You should first check that you have the latest graphics driver insatlled.
Then you need to go to your display properties settings.
Select advanced
Click on the Quadro tab.
Im not sure of the exact location as I don't have the laptop at hand. but there should be an option somewhere around there to customize the driver for different apps.
Try finding your app in the list. If its not there, try experimenting by selecting different 3D apps.
You will probably have to restart your app after you make your selection.
