what psu(power supply) would i need for a 9800 GT?
i think i need a 500w but do i need an 18v etc what do i need?
Depends on how much power is taken from all other system components and who makes the 9800. 500W is typically more than enough for most people. You CPU can take 45 to 125 watts depending on what it is... the motherboard might take 50 to 150 watts... depending on what it is... a HD will take about 5 watts, and DVD drive 5 watts... and then the video card. I think you're doing fine with 500Watts.
