i have a hp pavilion a400n with a 82845g graphics chipset, and no pci port for a graphics card?
on my motherboard. what steps do i need to take in order to have a higher version of direct x so i can play my games without any lag. i am also currently running windows 7 as an operating system.
Using Windows 7, you already have the latest version of direct x installed.
If you do not want to install a PCI video card, the best you can do is get the latest version of the chip set video driver installed.
One other thing that might improve game play is to run the game in compatibility mode for the version of Windows it was designed to run in.
Right click the shortcut you use to start the game and choose properties, then click on the compatibility tab and set the version to use.
Motherboard chip set graphics are just generally too slow and have too little dedicated memory to play any higher level games.
