Best transportation from FLL to Port of Miami in January.?
I am a little concerned that i may have picked a flight that gets in too late. I am going on a cruise with Norwegian. They say we need to be on the boat by 3:00 PM when it leaves at 5:00. Our flight gets in at 1:00PM. Is this going to be enough time for us to get our bags, find our transportation, and get to the port by 3:00? Also, any suggestions for the fastest way to get to the port? Is a cab going to be the fastest at $70 or getting a private car at $60 to $100 or getting a shuttle? Has anyone used SAS Transportation? I have read some reviews about them but i am not sure if they are just the company making themselves look good or if they are actually a good company.
Go Airport shuttle's shared ride service would be the obvious choice if you hadn't cut it so close. The $21 fare to Port of Miami does not apply to their private reserved pick up aservice, but to their shared ride service. Arrival time is touchdown at the airport. Assuming the plane is on time {Jan is one of the worst months for weather caused flight delays}, it could take you half an hour or more to taxi to the gate, deplane, get your baggage at baggage claim & then get outside to the Shuttle dispatcher. The bigger problem is that GO saherd ride service waits up to 1/2 hour until they fill the van. Then they may drop off passengers at hotels in Miami on the way to the port which may or may not take considerable extra time. While the cruise line may be a bit flexible as to time, you stand a good chance of not making it. Unless you really like stress & anxiety, I suggest:
1. Change to an earlier flight, even if you have to pay a charge.
2. Take a cab or private car from one of the many shuttle services (including Go) you can find if you Google "FLL ground transportation." Even at double or more the cost of GO Shuttles shared ride, it beats missing the boat.
