Need a new graphics card for a PCI port.?
I have a dell B110 and i need a new graphics card. i need one to play Counter Strike Source. I no thereisnt a lot of cards for a pci port that are good for gaming, but I was just wondering what the best one is for a pricerange around $150
For $150 USD, you can get almost any PCI video card you want. That's because most PCI cards are priced between $40-$100. Contrary to popular belief, there are still some quality PCI video cards on the market.
First, it depends on the brand you might like and the system you have. However, since you are interested in CS:S, I would recommend the following cards for your consideration:
1) Geforce FX5500 PCI 265MB
2) ATI Radeon 9250/9550 PCI 256MB
The above cards should be sufficent for playing HL2 and CS:S at HIGH to ULTRA detail settings. However, if you are interested in something more, I'd suggest the following:
1) ATI Radeon X1550 PCI 256MB
2) ATI Radeon X1300 PCI 256MB
These two cards support Shader Model 3.0 and HDTV, in addition to DirectX 9.0c and will guarrantee smooth gameplay. They are priced a bit higher ($80-$100) than the former two cards, but it really depends on how often you game or encode/decode video.
Also, make sure you have a big enough power supply unit (PSU). Some cards (the latter two) demand a lot more juice (~300W-350W), so make sure you're prepared.
