What is DVI-D port used for?
My LCD monitor has that port. But what is it used
For? Can we connect our DVD player to the monitor using that port? Please help. My monitor is NEC
VGA and DVI are the ports for connecting computers to their monitors. The DVI port is the successor to the VGA port. VGA is analog only, so when they wanted to make the next-gen version of a monitor port, they needed it to be somewhat backwards compatible. So, the DVI standard can use an analog signal if the right electronics are behind the port.
There are many different versions of the basic DVI port. The most common is the DVI-I version, which has both digital and analog capability. DVI-D is the term for the Digital-only version of the DVI port. The DVI-D is strictly digital, so you would need a computer with a DVI port on it. I don't think DVD players or even BlueRay players use DVI, I believe they have moved on to the newest display interface technology, the "HDMI" port.
