Do i need an open port to use an Xbox 360 wireless network adapter?
All of the ports on my wireless router are filled by other computers in the house and i was wondering if i can use a wireless network adapter to play xbox live on. Do i need any available ports open on my router or does it atuomatically connect straight form the xbox? I would be thankful if someone answered my question. Thanks!
Do all those other computers not have built in wireless? If you have wireless built into the other computers in the house, then they do not need to be plugged into the router...
OTHERWISE: If you have set up a wireless network (with router), then you should be able to plug in the xbox wireless adapter into the USB port on your xbox and configure it to detect your wireless network at home. If it is secured, then you will have to enter the password you set when you set up the network.
If you were to plug the xbox into one of the ports on the router using an ethernet cable, then you do not need the xbox 360 wireless adapter... Good Luck. Hope this helps!
