What would the average per square foot cost be for a paved 25 spot parking lot in town in Oklahoma?
The city said we would have to re-zone the section of the lot that will be paved. We currenty have a gravel lot. We want to pave over that plus add on several spots by extendng it. We are a boarding house with a max capacity of about 30. We are on a strict budget. We basically have to pave because we need more parking spaces but due to a new local ordinance, gravel lots are not allowed anymore so we are banned from extending the gravel. Our lot was only grandfathered in at its current size. We dont have enough space for residents and there is no other parking solution. We are also in a historical district so we will have to jump through those hoops as well. Norman, Oklahoma. Any suggestions on paving types, cost estimates, or ideas on how to make this go smoothly and affordably?
Spaces should be about 8ft wide and about 18ft long. If you put the lot on graph paper and change the lines from straight to an angle, you will come up with more spaces.
Maybe even mix it with straight here and angled there.
Paving is about $2.00 a sq ft MAX! I've seen it and have done it for $1 a sq ft.
There is also something called tar & stone. Lay gravel and pack it, then come in with hot tar and put a very fine gravel over that. Your main concern is to have drainage so water can't get under or channel a way under asphalt.
