Pci Surrond
Pci Surrond
Is My computer capable of 5.1 sound?
If I buy these speakers, will I have surrond sound on my PC, or do I need a new sound card?

When I go into device manager, It tells me I have a Realtek High Definition Audio under sound controllers. I have not put any sound card into my PC, just a graphics card. Other than the graphics card my PC is a stock gateway. I have 2 PCI slots free. but no PCI express slots free.
If I need a new sound card how much would it cost?
Are there any Cheaper, but still good 5.1 sound systems too? the x-540 is a little expensive for me. I know its cheap, but is there anything cheaper?
That is impossible to tell since you didn't give us your Gateway model number. I suggest you look up your computer on the Gateway support website:
http://support.gateway.com/support/default.asp
From there you will be able to tell if your computer supports 5.1 audio. A new sound card would not be expensive or difficult to add to your system since you have 2 free PCI slots. A good sound card is here for $25:
