kalyway/iPC won't detect my hard drive?
I have tried on both Kalyway and iPC to install Mac OS X on my pc but it won't detect my IDE Hard drive. Here's my specs
Mobo - Asus M3N78-CM
Proccessor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 2.60GHz (Dual Core) 5000+
Graphics Card - Asus EN8500GT Magic (Nvidia 8500 GT by Asus) 512MB Hybrid SLI - Actual Graphics Memory is 1.7GB total PCI-E
DVD Drive - SATA (controller set to AHCI)
Hard drives - 1x 100GB Seagate IDE (master)
1x 250GB Maxtor IDE (Slave)
Memory - 3x 1GB sticks (Can't remeber the speeds)
Anyway, so it doesn't recognise the hard drives even when I use an IDE DVD drive and turn off the SATA one. Any idea why?
i Think i should just add, the hard drives can be detected because I have windows 7 and windows vista running on them. They just can't be seen by the mac installer
Check the IDE cable, it can sometimes be a pain to get it seated correctly. If the hard drive read light is on constantly instead of flashing on and off the IDE cable could be in the wrong way. Most of them are grooved to make sure they only go in 1 way but some are not and can be fitted wrongly. Try a different cable. Then try 1 disk at a time. Also make sure the drives are correctly strapped to identify the master and slave. Change the order by making the Maxtor the master and the Seagate the slave. Usually by playing around like this you get something going. If nothing, even a new IDE cable, works then I would suspect the motherboard as the fault.
