The ASUS P5E-VM HDMI Motherboard can and will play in 1080p. BLU-RAY and HD-DVD. Although HDTV Signals are only in 1080i, when 1080p is available this machine will utilize the service.
I am dubious about those claims.
Right now, all high-definition TV broadcasts are in 1080i (1280x720), not 1080p (1920x1080). That's false advertising right there.
There are currently no QAM-capable HD tuner capture cards that can record the encrypted HD signals from a cable or satellite box. Only ATSC tuners exist, which can only receive over-the-air free local-station HD broadcasts, and requires you to buy an HD antenna setup.
I wouldn't use "wireless internet" (wireless LAN) to stream video content from a media server or NAS. It's best done over a Cat5e hard line, preferably gigabit ethernet.
And the 500W PSU is WAY overpowered for that config, which won't draw more than 150 watts PEAK.
The parts as listed are worth about $700, considering that the Antec Phantom is no longer made (Antec phased it out) and there is no discrete graphics card (the setup is using the mobo's on-board graphics).
