To the Yahoo! Answers universe who uses Macs under the warranty, can you please help me?
See, I owned a Macbook 13 inch which is a year or two old and still runs under 10.5 Leopard. Everything on the palmrest started to wear out and some parts on the palmrest is cracked. Even when it's not visible, I started to put krazy glue which is not the smartest idea. I am also on Apple Care that cover my Macbook's defects, but I was not sure it is covered on defects with self-fixes. Does it? And if it is not, how much should I pay for the damage???
More than likely Apple won't cover any self-repairs you did as it can void the warranty. Depending on what you did, they will need to look at the Mac and determine if it was normal wear and tear (which is not covered by Applecare) or if it was a defect.
As for pricing, it's best to call the Applecare number to explain the problem to them. They can give you an estimate if it's able to be repaired. Or you can take it to a local Apple Store and see a Mac Genius (you'd need to make a reservation on apple.com/retail)
