How to restore the original factory settings for a Dell Inspiron 1420 running 32 bit windows vista?
I want to get rid of everything and just restore the entire system back to the original factory settings, with nothing else but the things the factory installed on there. How to do that? I have all the CDs and stuff
Assumed OS Vista and partitioned.
Print this note, and save as much stuff, pictures, personol files, address etc; onto an usb fob as you can and place in a safe place
From a completely mains off situation
Switch on and immediately and continuously tap F8.
Until this action brings up on screen a selection of options.
One of which will be:-
Select “Repair your Computer”, enter
Follow the on screen instruction
But, the end result, Select the top option “Full Destructive Recovery” Don’t be shy.
NB. You can if you wish take it to this point and abort without ill effect, if your nervous I suggest you do, and set aside a couple of hours when you’re feeling brave...good luck and press entre next time your here.
If you haven’t saved all your personal files that you need to keep its now too late.
Follow the on screen instructions
Click start, enter. All you can do now is to sit back and relax, go for a coffee, leave it well alone let it do its own thing.
After the event you’ll need to install good Anti-virus software, Norton 2010 £23; your printer disk and a very long up date session, this is best done automatically over-night, while you sleep.
NB* I never get points for this because the pc and its history of “Answers” are wiped clean as you asked "orginal settings" as it came oot the box...Good luck
