How do I tell if my Dell Optiplex 270GX has bad caps?
I recently bought a new computer only to find that was a dell 270GX Optiplex tower so I wonder does it have bad caps?
keep in mind I would like to know this before they explode or bulge.
what should I be looking for inside the case? what kind of caps explode?
You can pop the panel off and do a visual inspection. You can also run the diagnostic test It takes like 3 minutes to load the test and 30 seconds to run it. Hit f12 at start up, choose diagnostics. Some optiplexes have the diagnostics in the f8 menu so try both.
ALL optiplexes have lifetime phone support, but you will need to prove you're the leagal owner. If you're the legal owner, dell also gave a free extended warranty to many of the GX series motherboards.
