How can I connect my laptop to a 2wire modem using a NIC wireless lan card? (10 points)?
My laptop has a local area connection and a 1394 connection but it doesn't detect my 2wire modem...I tried creating a new connection(setting up a home or small office network then tried to connect to the internet through another computer on my network or through a residential gateway) which took me to bridging a connection and nothing happened...I still couldn't find my 2wire connection like my other laptop does because my old laptop doesn't have connection built in , but it does has a NIC wireless Lan card which is suppose to work. Please help me, I am using Window XP Professional.
Forget the 1394 connection, and remove any bridging you have set up, this is going to cause more problems. Creating new connections does nothing either. You need to ensure your wireless card is switched on, many machines have a tiny slide switch on the side if the case for this. Then run the wireless card's connection program to find your router and set matching encryption and connect.
