Whats my HDD Transfer rate?
I have just bought a Hard Drive Caddy [http://www.necables.co.uk/nec/index.php?target=products&product_id=29816] for my Home Server build. I have a SATA2 capable motherboard and SATA2 hard drives but when I looked at the box it stated 'For transfer speeds starting at 150mbps' which is Sata1. Will my drives run at SATA2 speed? There is no chips just a PCB converting the SATA2 interface into a parallel type interface for the hard drive module. Upon looking on Everest under ATA devices, it stated my hard drives current UDMA rate is ATA-100 with a Max UDMA rate of 300???

it will run at sata 2 thats 300 now there may be a little overhead for the addres bus but not much and your pc is where the rates will apply it will transfer at the max amount allowed by the pc and that depends on the load before the transfer starts
