Can you have two routers connected to one modem?
For some reason the modem is located in the garage of my house. Apparently that was the only place they could put or so I'm told. We have a wireless router in the office that accesses the internet through a tv cable as weird as that sounds. It covers the entire house except for one room and of course it's my room. So basically what I'm asking is if I get another router and do the same set up as in the office in my room with a second router would it be achievable to get internet in my room without any complicating set ups?
In the back of my modem there is only one ethernet slot. On my router there are multiple slot. If your modem has multiple slots, then I would say yes, but am positive that it doesn't. You can connect multiple modems to a router, but not vice versa. If you want it that bad and have the money for it, get a router that sends out a better signal. You can also buy a separate modem, but that would mean paying the separate monthly fee for th 2nd modem.
So basically NO. A router allows 1 modem signal to be spread out evenly to multiple computers, xbox's, laptops. So if you connected another router to it, it would force it to send out the same signal again and it would be like having dial up.
