AMD Athlon 64 help??
Recently upgraded my AMD sempron (1.8GHz) to a mobile AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (754 socket) (around 2.4GHz).
I bought it off ebay to save some money, i installed it and it seems to work ok.
however, i always check any hardware i buy of ebay with aida32. it confirms that it's a mobile athlon 64 3700+ but it says it's speed is 800MHz (4 x 200MHz).
This has totally baffled me. because that would mean the speed is 0.8Ghz but if that was true, the pc wouldn't boot up because 0.8Ghz it so slow.
Can someone tell me what i'm missing or what part i've misunderstood because im sure my CPU is faster than 0.8GHz.

Your processor is a 2.4ghz clock speed but it runs on the system bus at 800mhz so you are confusing yourself with processor speeds and front side bus speeds/ddr memory speeds.The system board runs at 400mhz fsb with ddr (double data rate )memory, this is doubled to 800mhz. The clock speed of your processor is based on a 200mhz x 12 as the multiplier, thus it is 2400mhz ( 2.4ghz) Hope this clears up any mis-understanding.
