Why does sound only come out on one speaker when using a mic?
Hey this problem has been bothering me for months and I finally have no idea what is wrong. So I have a Shure microphone that I hook up to my computer. I tried to record out of it but sound is only on the left speaker. I thought the mic was busted so I went out and bought a brand new Shure microphone. The same thing happened. I tested the mic in another computer and everything worked fine. I also tested the old mic in another computer and that worked fine too. I dug up an old mic that is not a Shure and it worked fine in my computer. So the microphones have nothing wrong with them but what I would like to know is that why does my computer only record sound on one speaker when I use my Shure mics?
Please help...it's driving me crazy.
Oh yeah I'm running Windows Vista and I use Adobe Audition 1.5
The microphone jack socket is probably the culprit. Try talking into the mike while very slowly pulling the jack out of the socket and see if the sound suddenly appears in the other speaker.
