can i get paired processors for my computer?
I have Windows Vista Home Bacis-(E-machines) , and here are my computer stats: intel Celeron D processor 360 3400 MHz,120 gig hard drive, Intel graphics media accelerator 950 and 1.5 gig in RAM. But that is just not cutting it for me. could i just buy another 3400MHZ processor and have it installed or would I need a whole new motherboard with special clips and heat sinks for 2 Matched/paired processors. Thanx and hope you can help.
No, sorry - retail computers only have one processor slot. The Celeron D 360 is a single core processor so you would be better off to just buy one duo-core or quad-core CPU on a new motherboard. (Intel E6600 duo-core suggested.) And your graphics card needs to be upgraded also, like to at least an nVidia 7xxx series, 8xxx series preferred... I'd also dump Vista and try to get a copy of XP. XP is much better (by better, I mean screamingly faster than any version of Vista). Also, I'd upgrade to 2G RAM.
It sounds like it's going to cost an arm and a leg but you can get cheap parts from www.pricewatch.com. You can get each part seperately or get a bare bones (case, power supply, mobo, processor, RAM) unit.
Now, I am assuming you have built computers from scratch before. If you have, this is the site to go to. If you have not, I recommend you get help from someone who has, since it is easy to zap things...
