How do I move my master telephone socket?
I am in the UK and have a standard BT-style master telephone socket in my kitchen. Due to some redecorating, I would like to move this into my living room. Does anyone know of any websites or have any instructions that detail how to do this?
!) Remove the socket.
2) take it to a place where you want to fix.
3) measure the distance.
4) purchase a telephone cable of that length plus 12 inches.
5) when you have removed the master socket you would have disconnected the incoming cable by unscrewing it from the points where it was fixed.
6) fix one end of the purchased cable to those same wire and cover the naked wires with a electrical tape the joining points take it to the place where you want your master socket is to be fixed and connect the other end to those same points which you disconnected in the original place fix the other end of the cable you purchased to the same points( you may have to remove the cable wire coverings to join them at both ends by half inch so as to get the naked wires).
7) fix the master socket as it was fixed in the first place.
if you hear the dial tone you did it.
