Setting up a d-link DWL-1000AP wireless access point.?
I am having issues setting up a d-link DWL-1000AP wireless access point. I have never done this before. This is an older router, so there is no USB port. I have tried to install the software and tried to set it up on my own and it is not working. If anyone could walk me through setting this up step-by-step, using very simple instructions I would really appreciate it. I have no knowledge on how to set up a network, so any help would be good. Thank you in advance.

first reset the router to factory settings, should be a pinhole button on the router, use a pencil or something and hold it in for a few seconds. Now connect your PC to the router via ethernet cable and reboot and it should get an IP address from the DHCP in the router. Most routers work out of the box so try the internet at this point. if it doesn't then see below
click Start > Run > type cmd to open a command line then type IPCONFIG /ALL and check for an IP address. If its 169.x.x.x it didn't get one. try to configure a static one under control panel > network connections LAN properties > tcp/ip properties. Use 192.168.1.10 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1
If it did get an IP of 192.68.x.x then it got one from the router then make a note of the default gateway IP address, probably 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1
Then from the browser such as Ineternet Explorer or firefox type that IP in the address bar such as http://192.168.1.1 and it should pull up the admin page so you can configure. It may have a password, try "admin" for both user and password. Make sure DHCP is enbaled once your in, once you get it working then i would setup the security
