How to Install a Compaq Presario 900 Inverter
A power inverter is a device which converts an alternating current (AC) signal to a direct current (DC) signal.In the case of the Compaq Presario 900, the inverter is located inside the liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and supplies the power to the LCD screen, which provides a backlight for the LCD. This allows the laptop user to view what's on the LCD screen. Turn off your laptop, disconnect the power cable, remove any external devices and remove the battery pack from its compartment.
Open the LCD panel as far as it will go. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the rubber feet covering the screws along the edges of the display covering. Remove the Phillips-head screws securing the front LCD covering, and then carefully remove the covering from the LCD panel. Disconnect the cables from both ends of the inverter, and then lift the inverter out of the LCD display assembly.
Place the new inverter inside the LCD display assembly, and then reattach the cables on either side of the inverter.

Replace the LCD display's front cover, replace the Phillips-head screws and then replace the rubber feet covering the screws. Reconnect the power cable, replace the battery pack and external devices.
