Janome DC5100 Sewing Machine Review
The Janome DC5100 sewing machine is new for 2011 and besides the cool pink color scheme, it's packed with stitches and features that might have you reaching for your wallet whether or not you need a new machine.
It's built with the budget minded perfectionist in mind. The price is significantly lower than more exclusive, high end machines but the features and precision stitch work ensure a professional finished product whether you're making prom dresses or furniture covers.
Janome DC5100 Stitches
There are a total of 167 built in stitches included in the DC5100 including:
- 95 utility and decorative stitches
- 5 styles of on-step buttonholes
- 67 letter font
Stitch width can be adjusted for certain stitches up to 7mm and length up to 5mm. The stitch reference guide is easily available under the hinged cover on the top of the sewing machine.
Janome DC5100 Presser Feet
A total of 11 snap-on presser feet are included in the box and these feet are designed for making complex stitch work a breeze: Zigzag, Zipper, Blind Hem, Hemmer, Overedge, Even Feed, Satin Stitch, Cording foot, Overcasting, Basting foot, and an Automatic Buttonhole Foot.
Janome DC5100 Features and Functionality
The set of features on the Janome DC5100 include all the best sewing machine automation along with the flexibility to apply very fine-tuned enhancements to your stitches.
For fast set up and efficient sewing, there's a drop-in bobbin with see-through cover, a programmable needle up/down button, precision thread tension control, an automatic needle threader, a 7 point feed dog, drop feed dog control, Start/Stop button, speed control, conveniently located reverse button, stitch pattern memory, and horizontal thread delivery.
For precision and power, the machine operates on a DC motor which provides more force to the needle arm. Stretch stitches can be modified with the stretch stitch adjustment dial. There's even a buttonhole pitch adjustment dial for perfectly aligned sides on each buttonhole.
The computerized control panel sits under a backlit LCD screen and the buttons are flat and responsive.
The Janome DC5100 sewing machine draws you in with its vibrant color accents, then it taunts you with beautiful stitches and an attractive control panel but it's the power and precision hiding underneath that truly deliver such a smooth sewing experience.
