F150 1987 Hood will not shut tight safety latch catches but will not shut tight?
Have moved hook up down and still will not hook help
The same problem happened to me.
On older cars, the hood latch (the whole mechanism) gets pushed down just a bit after each time you close the lid. This goes on until that one time the mechanism is pushed too far down to latch. It's a common problem.
To fix this, loosen the bolts holding the latch mechanism until they are snug. Then slide the whole mechanism up, and while still holding it up, re-tighten the bolts. Make sure to tighten the bolts enough to securely hold the hood, but don't over-torque them.
