Solve inrush current ,any idea??

I intend to reduce or eliminate the starting current produced by an end user's computer cpu & server, since it causes a 10 KVA UPS going to bypass every time when turned on. The load only takes 15A at normal condition.How do I solve it??

You should be able to set your hard disks to NOT spin up upon power-on and let them spin up one-by-one once the disk controller comes on line. I know most advanced RAID controllers can do this and I've seen it on motherboards as well. If you're drawing 15A at normal load, then the startup current is likely to be twice or three times that.

You may have to upgrade the UPS. Since computers use switching power supplies, their current draw is not smooth. The power supply only draws current from the AC line (switched on) during the peak of the AC wave. This is why UPSes are rated at both Watts and Volt/Amps. While the Watts could be 15A x 120V= 1800W the Volt/Amp draw could be more than twice that because the power supply has to draw more current while it's "switched on" (not to be confused with the power switch) to make up for when it's "switched off" (again, not talking about the power switch). So the Volt/Amps could be over 3600 VA at normal loads. That means the startup load could be 10.8KVA or more, which would just trip the UPS.
