Advanced Dds-4 External Backup Tape Drive By Sony
Sony co-founded the high performance DDS tape technology. Sony is the first that has offered its customers the benefits of this high capacity fourth generation DDS technology. Modern information systems and fast growing networks require high capacity, durable and low cost storage solutions. The best storage tape product for this requirement is the firmly established digital data storage (DDS) media technology. Sony has engineered new DDS-4 external tape drive whose manufacturer part number is SDT-D11000/PB. This drive is part of the 11000 series drive family. This high capacity Sony DDS4 drive is the most economical option for demanding environments including workstations, data centers, SOHO (small office / home office) environment and corporate servers.
Sony DDS-4, SDT-D11000/PB tape drive is intelligently designed for increased data reliability. Sony DDS4 tape drive features sustained transfer speed of 4.8 Mb per second at 2:1 compression. These high class drives are capable of writing 40GB compressed data on a DDS-4 media tape cartridge. This Sony drive is backward compatible with 3 previous DDS tape versions. Sony DDS-4 external drive delivers high class storage solutions with the DDS4, DDS3, DDS2 and DDS-1 tape cartridges. Sony DDS-4, SDT-D11000/PB tape drive is read/write compatible with the above mentioned DDS tape versions.
Some of the DDS backup tape versions with their respective part numbers are listed below ; C5706A (HP DDS-1 tape), DG90P (Sony DDS1 backup tape), 43347 (Imation DDS-2 tape), 200110 (Maxell DDS2), DGD-120P (Sony DDS-2 tape), 26047300 (Fuji DDS-3 media tape), CDM24 (Quantum DDS3 tape), C5708A (HP DDS-3 data tape), 200028 (Maxell DDS-4 storage tape), DGD150PWW (Sony DDS4 tape), 26047350 (Fuji DDS-4 media tape) and C5718A (HP DDS4 data tapes).
This Sony DDS-4 drive comes with a bundle and solution kit. The bundle includes 60 days live trial backup single/multi server Exec solution and full version backup Exec Veritas desktop solution. The solution kit includes a Sony cleaning tape, DGD15CL, Veritas software bundle, user manual, terminator and AC power cord. Sony has employed its exclusive super head cleaning system in the tape drive, which is very helpful in reducing the debris on the read/write heads.
Sony SDT-D11000/PB drive ensures data reliability and high level performance under stress. Sony DDS4 tape is best suited for data intensive applications, voluminous data backups, SMBs and mid to large sized network systems. Sony's 11000 series drives are capable of accommodating the increasing storage needs of the customers. Sony has specifically developed the DDS4 tape drive to provide the luxury of backward compatibility which secures the users' investments. Therefore the customers can retrieve the data that has been recorded onto the DDS-1, DDS-2 and DDS-3 cartridges. Sony has enhanced the cooling and air flow system of the high speed DDS-4 tape drive which protects it from dust contamination. Therefore the drive can provide the user, with consistent high performance over longer time span.
