Computer help? my laptop won't go on standby!?
okay so my laptop is really crappy, the left hinge is broken so I can't close it. i know, i know, im working on getting a new one. okay so whenever i want to put the laptop on standby, i have to manually do so by clicking start>shut down> standby (i have windows XP) anyway, when i come back, the lights on the computer are still on like it is on and everything but the screen is black. i click the power button and everything to turn it on but i have to literally hold the power button down until it shuts down then turn it back on again. my computer for some reason takes forEVER to turn on so i have to sit there for like 10 minutes and its a real hassle. someone please help!
1 you have a lot of programs running in the back ground thats why it can't go to sleep mode
2 for boot slow
a hard drive may be undefrag
b hard drive close to full
c need to del temp files and internet tem files
d need to use msconfig to disable start up programs on boot up
e delete cashes and cookies
3 delete files you don't need anymore do a spring cleaning on the hard drive make sure you don't delete program app exe bat or dll files you need those
