How difficult is it for one guy to mount hood hinges on a hood, then mount hood to truck?
I bent my hood hinges due to 2nd generation Dodge Rams having faulty hood latches... dealership covers new hood latch, but not hinges. (bastardsssss!)
SO, I bought new hood hinges off ebay, but was wondering if its a 1 man job or not? Seems easy enough, just bolt on the hinges but Im wondering if theres more to it than that....
For eg. should I mount the hinges to the truck's frame first, then position the hood in place and bolt in the hood? Or should I mount the hinges on the hood, then position hood and hinges in place and bolt to the frame?
Or should I just let the body shop/mechanic handle it?
Im decent with cars, good with my hands and have the wrench set and some time... should I attempt it or not?
DV8oR-Yup, 45mph is a helluva load on a fiberglass hood! Thats how the hinges bent!... awful experience.

If you are mechanically inclined, its a fairly easy job. Get a friend, preferably mechanically inclined also, to help you. The hood is heavy and you will have both hands busy with the tools to remove the bolts, removing the bolts while attempting to hold the hood will be more than you want to do. Also you don't have to remove the hood from the car to change the hinges, you can do one at the time, while your friend helps holding the hood you can remove one hinge and put the new one on, that will help with alignment, since you will be able to see the "ghost" mark of the hinge you removed as you are installing the new one. Then move to the other side. Also use a small block of wood to put between the bottom of the hood and the cowl area (area where the wipers are) just in case your friend gets tired while holding the hood it won't drop on to the finish and put a dent or scratch in your "pride."
