Will a Japanese PS3 play British Blu-Ray Movies and Games?

I have recently been looking at purchasing a Limited Edition MGS4 Gunmetal Grey PS3 console but I can only find it with a japanese region.

Games: Yes
Blu-Ray movies: No ( except for some films that are region free, but they will say on the case)

All PS3 games are region free. though there can be issues with PAL n NTSC TV's working with PAL or NTSC PS3's n games. However this isnt an issue if you use a HDTV as they don't use NTSC or PAL signal's. (UK Is PAL, Japan is NTSC-J)

UK is in Blu-Ray region B and DVD region 2. Japan is in BD region A and DVD region 2, so at least DVD's will work.
The PS3 has to be complaint with the region coding, like DRM, copyright etc n all that, I think mainly cos Sony also has a movie studio.

As for joining the PSN it should work fine. you jsut put in which region you're in as you join the PSN.
However there may be issues with Home when it is released. I'm not sure if the region you join in home is locked to your account region or the console region. if its console region then you'll find when you go onto Home that you'll be talking to alot of Japanese people.
