Firewire Laptop Cardbus

Don't have a firewire connector on my laptop...?

and I don't have a Cardbus either. Is there any way I can somehow transfer high quality video to my computer from my mini dv camera? Any adapters or anything I can buy?

USB IS capable of doing "quality video transfer", it is only a SPEED issue. BOTH firewire and USB are just serial streams of data. serial data is serial data. However there may be an issue of buffer overflow. Think of a big cup of liquid poured ithrough a small funnel. As long as you moderate the speed, you won't spill.

You can use a firewire to usb2 adapter. The best ones will have a microprocessor chip to act as a buffer. Another way would be to use a universal hub that has firewire and usb in and a usb out. but again, you might have overrun issues.

Another way to go is to import to your PC. Almost all which have firewire, then copy the file to your laptop with usb or a jump drive. This is the cheapest, easiest solution. If you don't have a desktop (alot of people are laptop only, just like MANY homes are cell phone only) use a friends desktop.
